New technology for increased range of motion
My hips are considered 'adjacent motion segments' due to the fact that my spine was fused to my sacrum in 2012, which eventually resulted in my left hip wearing out a decade later. I was scheduled for replacement surgery February 29, 2024 using a more robust and advanced 'Dual Mobility Cup' prosthetic joint - see below ...
My recovery from the surgery was relatively poor as my iliopsoas tendon (primary hip flexor) remained inflamed and weakened for 2+ years post surgery, making it painful to climb stairs, etc. After a steroid injection and more physio work it has started to improve (2.5 years later at the time of this writing in September 2026) but it is still not an ideal outcome.
